Experience

I have tutored and currently tutor at Rock Hill High and Charlotte's Urban Youth League GED program. I received 4/5 on AP History EOCE at Walhalla High. I only took the SAT one time, making over the cut-off required of SC public universities, 1130 in October of 2006. I would like to be a tutor because I enjoy the on-going process of learning, and how much I get to know, relearn, and think over what I know when I involve myself with learners and when providing myself as mentor (MK0) within younger learner's ZPD. I have completed courses in Educational Psychology, assistive technologies for the learner, educational law, content area reading, and instructional methods, at both undergrad and graduate levels. I enjoy tutoring much more than the class-room experience, but I have had class room observations and provided assistance in Rock Hill High for Mr. Chandler's History/Social Studies classes. Although I have run out of funds and incentive to finish my masters in social studies and become a class room teacher, at this time in my life, I have very positive success with myself and pupils in the tutoring role. As well as course-work and GED tutoring, I have over two years experience working in Winthrop's User Support Dept, providing me the know-how for end-users and department software and hardware troubleshooting, installation, and networking needs. This experience is of both troubleshooting, aiding, and using educational assistive learning technologies as well of common desktop support.

Hobbies

My hobbies and interest are sometimes too centered. I enjoy swimming for exercise and recreation, and I have been swimming since two years old. It is almost an integral part of my intellect and personal character, and when I get away from swimming, I feel as though I am getting away from myself. Much of my recreation involves swimming, hiking, or after doing those things, lazily sitting by a river or lake with friends. If a student has interest in popular music, I love to chat about the history of Jazz, r&b, the blues, bluegrass, rock-and-roll, folk musicology, and the Beatles. Other than hiking/swimming, music and shows, I spend a lot of time reading, writing short stories, poetry, songs, and filing job applications and re-reading resumes. Social satires are probably my main hobby, as from print to tv to cinema, I ingest social commentary and political and intellectual (creative) cultures. I mostly live a 19th or 20th century take on leisure/entertainment, and music and print are my main diet. I enjoy attacking my guitars on a daily basis. And since I have never been tutored, "attacking" is probably the best word to use.
